Purpose: Research Transitions Fireside Chats spread awareness regarding the research to operations, commercialization, and application pipeline within and across NOAA. Participants:
- come away with a broader understanding of a transition plan as a living document that serves as a continual two way conversation between the researcher and adopter;
- learn how ORTA can support the transition planning process; and
- better understand how Readiness Levels fit into transition planning.

Advancing Innovative Research (AIR) Seminar Series
Purpose: The Advancing Innovative Research (AIR) monthly seminar series provides an opportunity to showcase the various innovative R&D technologies and operations supporting missions from across OAR laboratories. AIR is also a forum available to other NOAA offices, industry, and academics to connect interested stakeholders, foster collaborations, and share lessons learned, which in some cases may lead to leveraging assets and participation in combined operations.

Those interested in providing a briefing at one of the Advancing Innovative Research (AIR) Seminar Series can send an email to oar.orta@noaa.gov, with the briefer’s name, office/laboratory, presentation title, and 2-3 sentences pertaining to the topic to be presented. Once received, a confirmation email will be sent back, containing a link for a possible session date and time slot selection. Briefers planning to present during one of these 20-minute sessions should follow the below content guidelines and prepare slides accordingly.
- 15 minutes for briefing + 5 minutes for Q&A
- Technology/innovation, with goals and mission overview
- Benefits to NOAA / Societal Impact Lessons Learned
